The anti-vaccination movement is a pet peeve of mine. Parents who choose not to vaccinate are free-riders, who implicitly rely on others to assume all of the risks while they take the benefits of vaccination. And it seems to go hand in hand with a bunch of other parenting practices which are not scientifically supported as "superior", but which those mothers who practice them point to as proof of their superiority nonetheless. I've come across one or two 'Earth Mamas' who don't vaccinate their kids and I usually keep quiet after their lectures cos I know that then any engagement will result in me feeling bad about myself (bad parenting leads to measles bla bla bla).
