If that grabs me, I'll pick up the book to read at some point. (Or put it on the "wish list" so I can remember it.) If I do read reviews, I do so with a grain of salt - I'll usually read the ones with the highest and lowest praise - just to see what they liked or didn't like. But I tend to think those with the lowest praise have an axe to grind with just about anyone and those with highest praise are just natural born gushers - so I'd rather just form my own opinion. I have a bit of a different take on reviews personally. Similarly, before buying a video game I will extensively research it via a variety of resources from podcasts to industry sites. For a book, I just want a title recommended but I'm not interested in hearing a number of opinions before I read it. That being said, once I've read the book I'll consult the app to see what others thought. I suppose its just different for each person :). I have a bit of a different take on reviews personally. Similarly, before buying a video game I will extensively research it via a variety of resources from podcasts to industry sites. For a book, I just want a title recommended but I’m not interested in hearing a number of opinions before I read it.
