I wouldn’t want to sponsor anyone’s wedding! I dunno, I just think it’s very tasteless to get people to give you freebies just because you’re a pro-blogger or throw that status around. (That’s why I don’t really like high-key celebrity weddings like that famous M’sian songstress.)

A wedding is not about sponsorship or PR, like Irene mentioned. It’s supposed to be solemn, life changing and sacred affair.

I thougth the wedding dinner (the main one) is paid for by the groom’s side of the family.

The bride’s family has a separate dinner before the above mentioned one and pays for that themselves.

Hey, just because I’m not famous … I didn’t get the email from this couple. But that’s ok. I will seek out their website and have a good laugh!

Not too long ago a couple who were working with TV3 had the station televise their wedding. Both were considered well-known enough to be minor celebrities, I guess.

But you know, it does appear incredibly crass to do something like that.

The real celebrities around the world are mostly trying to shun this kind intrusion into their personal lives! But I really don’t blame celebrities for accepting sponsored presents … I doubt they are solicited?

Soon, there will be a day when the bride has a big sign stuck on the back of her wedding gown: “Brought to you by Ah Mooi Bridal House”!!

I hope not to get invited to THAT wedding.

In KL the angpau going rate is RM100 per person. Coz usually the dinner is in (1) a hotel, or (2) a Tai Thong restaurant. I would say minimum is RM80.

The whole scenario feels tasteless and crass to me. A wedding is not supposed to be about publicity and sponsorship and PR. It’s supposed to be a time of celebration shared with those nearest & dearest to you when you make a lifetime commitment to someone you love. Or maybe I am too naive and idealistic!

You know, I heard that Donald Trump and Melania’s million dollar engagement and wedding rings were sponsored by the jeweler in exchange for publicity. One of US most well-known chef, Jean-Georges provided culinary services FREE OF CHARGE!!! CRAZY!!!
