The lovable Malay Male blogged this first and shared this Al-Jazeera Everywoman video (in English) on youtube on yet another Hindu couple being torn apart by religion.

Read Datuk Seri Lim Kit Siang’s entry on Suresh and Ravathi’s plight on April 4th.
Can’t help but think of the character Pi Patel in Yann Patel’s Life of Pi, who wanted simply to love God when asked why he became a Christian, a Muslim and a Hindu all at once.
He asked the question, why not one nation in heaven?
When will this madness end?

i visited malaysia almost a year ago and i can say that it’s a vibrant and beautiful place…i saw so much freedom, but to learn that some islamic law is pulling this country backward is really appalling, the lawyer himself from the video clip you attached admitted that the country has the constitutional provision that allows freedom of religion, however this co-exist with a sharia law that forbids the conversion of a muslim faithful otherwise! i find it so ironic, and i can’t help but mock the double standards system tolerated by the society. Malaysia could epitomise the modern world of islam only if it can be much bolder to change some of its old school rules, anyways being a muslim in malaysia or indonesia is much lenient in a sense than being a muslim in the mideast…so why not move on and make islam a beautiful religion?

Malaysia as the surface level seems to be very attractive…but in deep…thr are lots of problem going on…this suresh and revathi is only one of the problms..u think revathi will change aft sending her to the rehabilitation center, only making the situation more worst… GOD!!!… why these people are not civilize…only malaysia is holding on this concept…but other muslim countries doesnt seems to do this..
Love is far beyond from religion, status..wealth and everthing….what thy need is just a peaceful life… so, leave them alone… Priya darshini (15 year old daughter) is craving for their parents love….
To show how good a religion is…it depends on the devotee…so, the devote shoud show a goood example…

I think base on my Islamic view. first of all. rioting doesn’t bring any benefits to anybody. Second, I want to clear things a bit. Please do not take Islam as malay only. Islam has chinese muslims and indians muslims. You do not see them because these kind of innocent muslims are caught in the crossfire that irreponsible people regardless what race had done in sparking sentiment toward races.
When we talk about Islam. I really want you to look at the religion. Not the followers. I understand and admit that muslims in malaysia is very…awful.bad and etc etc. But Islam are beutiful I assure you.
Parents also play a very important roles in teaching kids not to be spoiled (if they does something wrong, you should scold them) later when they grow up they will grow a sense of sensibility within. So do not spoil your kid. If you don’t make them cry while they’re child, they will make you cry when they’re grow up. I am not a politician and I do not twist the truth. I will give raw truth as much as I can whether you like it or not and I am not siding with anyone other than my religion myself not the followers. You dont have to hit your child…just scold them would be enough…
Malaysia could spare the ranting of some chinese and indians want the same privilege as the bumiputera. Because, we are at the bank of economy crisis, I do not think the government have enough funding to keep all of us happy. So please be considerate. People who hates malaysia because we are unequal should look at Indonesia, thing about it and be grateful instead of demanding ridiculous matter such as building a chinese schools or indians schools. Cant you see? If you build all kind of schools you will increase the financial burden of the government plus you will only create isolation between races and only make our next generation stray away from unity, whats wrong with typical school that mix up malay, indians and chinese?. Even I can say that the parliament in Malaysia is like a bunch of kids being compiled together in a room.
Lastly I never mean to offend the readers in any way. and if I do in anyway I am sorry formally and please accept my opologies and thank you for reading my comment

I am not a Muslim, but I taught about Islam when I was in Cambodia. I used to love Muslim. I had always admired the laws and practices of Islam until I came to settle in Sarawak. They rejected me because I am a Cambodian.

Well , Malaysia is indeed a beautiful country.
People over here are friendlier than in Singapore(in my opinion), unless you get into the wrong people. But hey , no country is ever perfect , not even America. There is some ups and downs, no matter where we go. In Malaysia, there are some political problems and such. But other than that, everything’s just fine to me.

What they are doing to this couple is exactly against Islam. “Laa Iqrohaa fid dien” (There is no compulsion in religion), that’s what the Koran says. So why are these so-called muslims do things sooo different from what Islam teaches them?
I’m a muslim myself and I can’t believe they are doing this. In Indonesia we allow people to convert from Islam to other religion, it’s basic human rights.

better come to indonesia, where you could enjoy the real hospitality of south east asia country, unlike just a slogan made by malaysia, indonesia don’t make any slogan like this, they just simply welcome foreigners to taste their own cultural bland, diversity, racial respect to one and other. indeed indonesia had racial riot on 1998, but that’s all over now, you should come to know what kind of hospitality you’ll receive.
indonesian people also have the mentality of pleasing other people, they don’t mind suffer a little bit as long as they can help other people, for example, asking the way, asking what kind of street food is good, asking which tourism site is worth visited to, ask anything, they’ll treat you with respect, and will make sure you understand, something you won’t find in MALAYSIA “TRULY ASIA”.

This is a typical scenario in Malaysia. I’m an Australian who has returned to Islam as my wife is Indian Muslim but I can tell we do not live like these people. Its funny that if you were to bring someone into Islam you are recognized as a great asset, all your sins will be forgiven under Islam. But on the other hand if you are a Muslim and want to convert to another religion you will be punished.
Just to clarify that moron on the video, Islam was only implemented during the 15th and 16th century but Buddhism and Hinduism was in Malaya much earlier.

Malaysian are 2d thinkers meaning they are tough to follow and not to ask question. The Government policies are implemented with emotions and not justifications that’s why you have a lot of discrimination towards other races.
