I’ve had a long-standing girl-crush on Angelina Jolie. No, not because I just think she’s “hot” (well, okay, she is!), but because of the work she’s done for UNHCR. I think she’s done an amazing job using her celebrity to forward relief efforts for the displaced, and she’s a big part of the reason I myself give funds to the UNHCR.
She’s not just some pretty-looking puppet used to propel a cause to the public eye - she really works hard to inform herself about what’s going on in the world and in the regions she visits in an effort to bring aid. Heck, she can hold intelligent conversations with Kofi Annan - I don’t know how many other 31-year-old Hollywood actresses could claim that!
And she puts her money where her mouth is. Millions and millions of her own earned dollars go to helping and providing resources to the villages, orphanages, and refugee camps she’s visited. This is a woman of integrity, in my opinion. Thanks for highlighting her most recent publishing.
