We’re not very big Valentine’s Day celebrators in the Tan household. My idea of a good time is a dinner of good Bak Kut Teh or ‘big fry’ with my friends Hazel and Darren, which we tried to do every year when we were home.

Yes, memories of flowers and chocolates and a romantic dinner are very, very faint.
