Insane has a new word

It’s called ‘healthcare costs’.

Remember Raeven’s concussion? We got a statement today from the hospital.

Pharmacy: 68.24
Head scan: 961.60
Emergency Room Charges 1076.25

TOTAL: 2106.09

This is in USD.

We still don’t know if our insurance covers it all, so we’re watching our mailbox anxiously for the bill. I know you can’t put a price on a child’s safety. Still, I’m pretty sure I won’t pay that much to fix my head.

I knew I should’ve flicked a couple more barf bags, damn it.

DO NOT PAY this bill. Your insurance covers all costs for ER visits (If you have the one we have). Hospitals send out these bills thinking they can dupe you into paying what insurance should pay. Thereby getting cash from you and from insurance. Supposedly, they will repay you, but they take their time returning your funds. If the hospital is in network for your insurance, they have to accept what insurance will pay. They cannot bill you for the remainder.

    Happy New Year!
